Good to Know

Glowing healthy skin needs essential fatty acids. In the upper layers of the skin, they hold the skin together. Omega 3 (α-Linolenic acid) and 6 (Linolenic acid) fatty acids are essential nutrients because the skin doesn’t produce them. They need to come from the diet. We know that they play a critical role in the skin affecting skin appearance and normal function. Essential fatty acid deficiency causes hyperproliferation of the epidermis, dermatitis, and increased trans-epidermal water loss leading to dry, rough and irritated skin surface. We also know that applying directly to the skin essential fatty acids from specific vegetable oils (Safflower, Sunflower, Olive, Linseed…) is a successful route, greater than the food intake as the liver may change their chemical nature before they reach skin tissues.
