What it does

Good to Know

Used since prehistoric times, Liquorice is a plant abundant in Calabria (Southern Italy). Hippocatres used it for cough and wounds while modern medecine has isolated its triterpenoid saponins (3–5%) content, mainly glycyrrhizin, a mix of calcium and potassium salts of glycyrrhizic acid and flavonoids (1–1.5%) to treat inflammation. Triterpenes, responsible for the anti-inflammatory effect, shows comparable efficacy to that of corticosteroids. In particular, the ammonium salt of glycyrrhizic acid (AG) we use in Vegan & Organic line.
